Job DescriptionOur Supply Chain Team ensures inventory is consistently available to meet customer demand. We coordinate all aspects of supply through supply planning, sourcing, making, inventory management, packaging and delivery. We partner across the Marketing, Finance and Manufacturing organizations to build a robust demand and supply plan and ensure we get products to the right customer, at the place, at the right time.
We are seeking a Growth and Improvement minded Supply Chain Management Director that can help drive our Strategic Operating Priorities.

Summary, Focus and Purpose
The Supply Chain Management Director drives all commercial distribution activities in USA and manages the relationships and day to day activities of multiple 3rd party logistics (3PL) provider locations in the US. Its primary objective is to align the activities of the 3PLs to balance cost and customer service requirements.
You will partner with various internal stakeholders to achieve compliant, reliable supply: Order Management Center (OMC) and key commercial leaders to improve service and reduce costs; Quality Assurance to maintain a strong compliance posture; Technology Functions for product handling requirements (e.g. cold chain) and compliance requirements; Procurement for sourcing and management of 3PLs; Transportation for integration with the 3PL; and IT for integration needs.
The Director is responsible for managing a $50MM+ P&L and a team of 4 direct reports.
Key Functions

- Understand cost drivers and current contracts with 3PLs | Reassess current cost structure and develop realistic operating budget | Redevelop effective budget framework that aligns costs to operations. Use this framework to develop plan to realign 3PL contracts to meet future needs and to drive continuous reduction in operating costs
- Applies lean principles to current operations and uses them to drive culture of continuous improvement within current organization and with 3PL
- Aligns with internal commercial personnel to understand true customer needs and utilizes these inputs to align operations to meet these needs | Drives structural improvements in distribution operations and infrastructure that changes cost structure and service potential
- Provides stewardship of inventory in all locations | Establishes good inventory accounting and handling procedures with 3PL reducing amount of damages and written off inventory due to the 3PL
- Proactively works with North America planning hub to improve IQV processes
- Works collaboratively with Human Health commercial leaders and Customer Centricity teams in the US to determine distribution and execute strategy | Makes necessary changes to strategic plan for network | Develops capacity plans to meet future space and service requirements | Develops innovative supply chain solutions that deliver value to our Company
- Responsible for ensuring compliance with all distribution related areas including but not limited to: distribution licenses, DEA requirements, GMP/GDP requirements, security, etc.
- Oversight and integration of various systems related to distribution: SAP, Warehouse Management Systems, Transportation Management Systems, etc.
- Provides leadership, coaching, and growth to members of distribution staff in North America | Determines optimal structure for managing distribution activities in North America and realigns structure as appropriate
- Defines and executes cold chain distribution strategy for North America to optimize cost and service
- Partners with External Quality groups to meet evolving regulatory standards and Good Distribution Practices
- Manages and develops the organization to meeting evolving business needs
- Partner with our Company and 3PL colleagues to drive significant improvements in our operational performance, compliance posture and cost structure
- Work closely with key leaders in Supply Chain Management, Finance, and Human Health to identify and drive improvements in cost and service
Education
- Required | Bachelor degree in Engineering, science, business, or related area of study
- Preferred | Advanced degree
Experience | Skills | Knowledge
Required
- Ten years of experience with at least seven years of experience in supply chain
- LEAN/our Company Production Systems skills
- In depth knowledge of supply chain, logistics, and order management processes
- Skills in recruiting, leading, and developing teams
- Experience managing 3rd party providers
- Effective in attention to detail, accuracy, organization and follow-up
Preferred
- Five years of operations experience
- Ten years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry
- Experience in Commercial Distribution
- Strong interpersonal and communications skills and a demonstrated ability to anticipate and solve problems, and coach others on problem solving
- Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Demonstrated exceptional judgment and a genuine willingness/desire to develop successful business relationships with customers and our Company commercial colleagues representing our customers
- Experience with Warehouse Management Systems and SAP ERP
